Hi everyone!
So today we’re delighted to share an idea we’ve been dabbling with for nearly a year — ‘The Drifting Music Club’. This will be a monthly 1hr Zoom call open to all where we will discuss a record or artist together hosted by myself and the king of music discourse, Louis (Blu-e).
We’re launching this for two major reasons:
1. We just really love chatting about music.
2. We want to encourage the importance of critical thinking around music.
I’m sure everyone has heard this before, but it really does feel like in todays social media world, we are being fed what to love at every click or scroll of a button. With this discussion, we hope to invite everyone to listen to music in a purposeful and dedicated way. No only listening to an artist’s top tunes on Spotify. No skipping through a Soundcloud set. Listening to a full album or EP and really questioning why we did or didn’t enjoy it.
For updates on dates + times we have made a Drifting WhatsApp community group, so please join it if you’re keen to join us!
With that being said, it is 100000% OK with us to join camera off and with zero contribution on your end. This is about listening and thinking and hopefully growing a community of like minded people who can teach us some new perspectives :)
We will not be recording these sessions as we want everyone to feel as safe and judgement free as possible. We hope everyone feels welcome in this club and that it’s a place for learning (especially if you don’t consider yourself a music head!). It’s also extremely important to us to remind everyone that all thoughts discussed are subjective and opinions. We are not looking for right or wrong answers, just passion and a willingness to hear a difference of opinions.
Please leave any comments or queries in the comments section or in our DM’s at our @drifting.fm instagram.
